Scentescence wax melts review

Scentescence wax melts review

I was kindly sent a sample pack of wax melts from the amazing Zoe at scentescence wax melts. I tried them over a period of time and I will give my honest opinion.

So i received a pack which contained rhubarb & custard, strawberry Bon Bon, caramel vanilla latte and lollypop. There was 2 of each scent so they lasted a very long time. I used an electric wax melt to melt all of these as I don’t have a candle one.

Rhubarb & custard was gorgeous!! It was strong scented and smelt exactly like rhubarb & custard sweets. It filled my bungalow very quickly with the scent and lasted a long time. I got at least 5 uses out of each melt. The melt was lovely looking, it was a yellow parcel with glitter on the top.

Next is the lollypop scent. This smelt amazing in the pack but when it melted it wasn’t as strong as I hoped it would be. It still smelt gorgeous but I found it didn’t fill the bungalow as well. Again it was very pretty looking it was a pink start shaped melt. The smell didn’t seem to last as many melts either maybe 2/3 times.

Next is caramel vanilla latte. This was by far my favourite scent. It was strong scented and filled the bungalow quickly. It smelt just like a caramel vanilla latte would. Personally my favourite flavour of coffee!!!! It lasted many melts, it was about 5 times. It looked stunning, it was shaped like a small brown parcel.

Last but not least it’s the strawberry Bon Bon wax melt. This was gorgeous! It smelt quite sweet but not too much. It smelt like a bag of strawberry Bon Bons would. It filled the bungalow, but didn’t last as many melts. I found the scent wore off after 4 uses. It was lovely looking, it was a pink heart with glitter on the top.

All of the wax melts I was sent to sample were lovely. They all looked lovely and would make wonderful gifts. They all lasted quite a few uses so you definitely get your money’s worth. They are very affordable so give them a try!

My best friends wedding!

My best friends wedding!

30th April 2017………Megan and stuart’s wedding day! So much planning and preparation for this day. It was going to be perfect.

So my alarm went off at 630 as I needed to be at the hilton metropole in Brighton at 730 to start the day off! We arrived at the hotel and I went straight to Megan’s room, I was so excited to be maid of honour and I couldn’t wait to see her! Jodie the other bridesmaid and Sharon the mother of the bride arrived shortly after me. We were all so excited, music playing, bubbles flowing!!!

The hair and make up girls arrived just after 8am, Jade the hairdresser and annabel the make up artist. They were amazing!! So chilled out! There was a plan to get us all ready, one in the hair chair and one in the make up chair.

Carla the photographer arrived about the same time, she was brilliant. She didn’t get in the way at all, but she took the most amazing photos.

The flowers arrived about 1030 they were gorgeous! So stunning! Lillac and white flowers…..beautiful!

Megan gave me and jodie a necklace each with a little message in the box, it was beautiful!

Jodie and I got into our dresses so we were ready to help megan later in the morning. Once we got dressed, the photographer took us out to the most amazing staircase to have some photos done.

Then we went back to the room to get megan ready. We got her into her stunning dress, shoes on, jewellery on then had a glass of bubbles! She was ready!

Megan’s dad then came up to the room to get megan. The photographer was ready to capture his moment, it was beautiful and so moving. ¬†He cried at how beautiful megan looked. I had to go in the other room so I didn’t ruin my makeup from the happy tears.

The registrars came to the room to speak to megan. Then we were ready to go. We headed down the stairs, more photos then we headed to the Clarence suite for the ceremony. The flower girls went down the aisle first then the mums with a usher each, then it was mine and jodies turn. We walked down the aisle and headed to our seat. Then the song changed, megan and her dad started to walk down the aisle. Absolutely stunning!

The ceremony was beautiful, so perfect! Time for a drink!!! We went into another room so the hotel staff could change the room around ready for the wedding breakfast. While we were waiting the wedding party had more photos done.

meg wedding on stairs

When we went into the wedding breakfast, I was gobsmacked! It looked stunning! We all took our seats ready to greet the new Mr and Mrs Robertson! They came in to the biggest cheer. We sat down for a meal which was really tasty. Cheese and onion tart, roast chicken and chocolate terrine all washed down with lovely wine.

Then it was time for the speeches!

Perry the father of the bride was up first, his speech was lovely so moving. I was crying again! The Stuart the groom, again it was lovely and guess what I cried again! Kyle next, the best man. Now this was funny, I couldn’t stop laughing! Then……….it was my turn! I was so nervous, but it went fine. I nearly started crying again as I looked at megan who was nearly crying too. It was hard to write but I got there in the end.

The people who were involved in the wedding got given gifts. I got a bottle of prosecco, a engraved glass and a personalised candle.

We went into the other room again while they sorted out the room for the reception. When we went back in the disco was ready, the photobooth was ready which meant PARTY!!!!!!

Megan and Stuart cut the cake which was incredible! Lemon drizzle Base, chocolate fudge middle tier and top tier was raspberry and vanilla buttercream. So tasty!

Now it was time for the first dance and father daughter dance. Their first dance was to a song by hunter hayes and the father daughter dance was to daddy’s little girl by the Shires. It was so nice to watch.

Then the party really got going, lots of dancing, drinking and plenty of photos in the photobooth!!

Eventually it was time for bed. The next morning we met up for breakfast and had plenty of giggles about the day! Megan and Stuart had Mr and Mrs jumpers on…….too cute!!!!

The wedding was perfect! I felt very honoured to be involved and it was very special to me. I will never forget it!

Happy flush review

Happy flush review

20170424_171606Living with inflammatory bowel disease is not easy! It takes a lot of getting used to and its very misunderstood. When I was on Instagram one day I found a company called Happy Flush. I was very intrigued as to what they did, so I checked out their profile. I couldn’t believe what I was seeing, its a spray that you spray in the toilet bowl before going to the loo. AMAZING!!!

One of the biggest things I find hard to deal with is the fact that the urge to go to the toilet comes on very suddenly and you have to go then! So sometimes it happens out and about and I have to use public toilets. People can be very nasty and make comments. I have heard things like ‘What is that smell, smells horrendous’ ‘someone’s got a problem’ ‘that’s disgusting’. So when I found happy flush I was keen to give it a go!

When the products arrived, I used them that day and WOW! So I sprayed the toilet then used the toilet and I couldn’t smell¬†a thing! I could have cried I was so happy.

They sell three different size bottles 100ml, 50ml and 25ml. The 100ml is perfect for use at home, the other two sizes are perfect to keep in your hand bag or for travelling. They also sell different scents, citrus burst, lime fizz, mint breeze, orange zing, rose bloom, apple twist, festive sparkle (Christmas only) and flower power (coming soon). I have tried citrus burst and apple twist. They smell incredible!!

They are made from essential oils and highly concentrated so there is nothing nasty in them and they last ages. They are very reasonable in pricing varying from £3.59-£8.99 depending on the size you buy. It is 100% worth every penny!!!

I keep one in my bag at all times so I’m never without it. Since using happy flush I haven’t heard any comments about me which makes me very happy.

Living with inflammatory bowel disease is horrible but happy flush makes it a little easier to deal with. I have recently helped them with a campaign that they are doing called care to be aware campaign. I wrote a piece about how my colitis affects me and how I deal with it..

Please go and check them out on Instagram @happyflush and their website is

They are a small independent company not a big chain. Please support this small business as they have made such a big difference to my life. It is perfect for anyone living with any condition that affects your bowel habit.

Hoots Snacks Review

Hoots Snacks Review

I was sent some snacks from the lovely people at hoots snacks to try and write a review for them.

The snacks are multigrain bread snacks that are baked not fried. They are like little discs on french stick which are flavoured. They contain wholegrains and seeds, they are a brilliant healthy snack! As i follow slimming world a bag of these hold a syn value of 8.5. I think that they are totally worth it. They feel really naughty but they arnt. They are fab for dipping too, they can be dipped into any dip but my favourite was syn free houmous.

They sent me 5 different flavours salt & vinegar, salt & pepper, smoked bacon, cheese & onion and pickled onion. I will be honest some of the flavours wern’t completely to my taste such as the salt & pepper ones, i personally found them quite peppery, i’m not a massive pepper fan though. My favourite flavour by far was pickled onion, i’m a big fan of anything pickled onion so i’m probably a bit bias.

The bags were well filled, not like some bags you get that are half air. They are very filling and satisfying.

If you want to try these yummy snacks then check them out on instagram @hootsnacks and the link to their shop is in their bio.

My best friend’s surprise hen weekend to Disneyland paris!

My best friend’s surprise hen weekend to Disneyland paris!

5am 31st march 2017, we pick my best friend Megan up from her house. She had no idea where we were going, her fianc√© Stuart packed her bag from a list that I gave him. Michael was driving us to Gatwick but he drove down to Brighton first to confuse Megan. Then as we got near to Gatwick, I said to her that I needed to stop as a ‘services’ for the loo. Megan was blindfolded and she had headphones on so had no idea what was going on. Then we got her out the car, we were all standing in front of her with Minnie ears on and our Paris tops on. She broke down into tears, she was so happy!

We headed into the terminal and went straight to bag drop to sort out my wheelchair. Then we went through security and straight to wetherspoons for breakfast and prosecco!

We arrived in paris at 10am, headed straight to our hotel. We were staying at Disney kyriad hotel. It was brilliant! There was a free shuttle bus to and from the park from the hotel reception. The buses were every 10-15mins. It only took about 8 mins from the hotel to the parks. We went into Disney village for some much needed lunch and a mooch around. After we had filed our tummies we went back to the hotel to chill then get ready for a night out in Disney village. We got ready then played some games at the hotel before going out, including stick the ring on Minnie! Such a good game!! We took lots of photos then headed out.

We went to the rainforest caf√© for dinner, it was so tasty! We had a cocktail with dinner too. Then we went to a sports bar for another cocktail. A few of us had glowing cocktails which had a blue glowing plastic ice cube in, so cool! We didn’t stay out too late as we knew we had a full day in Disney on the Saturday. So we went back to the hotel to get some rest.

1st April: DISNEY DAY!
We got up abut 8am to go to the park for a full day! We had some breakfast at the hotel then went to the park! Megan was so excited, it was so lovely to see her very excited!

I had my blue badge with me as I could get a pass to get on the rides without stairs. The disabled queues for the rides were by the exit and I could take 4 people on with me. It took a while to get the pass as the queue was long but then we used the disabled entrances for each ride. We then went a met Minnie mouse! Megans favourite! It was very special.

We spent the day going on the rides and eating! There was a parade at 530 which was brilliant! It was a parade for their 25th anniversary. Then there was a illuminations and firework show at 10pm, it was incredible! Well worth staying at the park for. After this we went back to the hotel to rest for the next day the walt Disney studios park until we had to head for the airport.

2nd April: Walt Disney studios park

We used the disabled pass again as it was valid for the 2 days we were there. This park was smaller and more for adults as there’s lots of rollercoasters. We went to the Disney shops after being in the park to get some goodies before going back to the hotel. We got picked up at 530pm to go to the airport.

The whole trip was perfect! Megan had no idea what was going on but she loved it! The only thing that puts me off going back is the amount of people smoking around the parks!!!!!! Even though there are designated smoking areas, no one cared! Unfortunatly it caused me to have a very nasty asthma attack and be kept in hospital for 2 days when I got home. Its such a shame as it was a brilliant weekend!

Mothers day 2017

Mothers day 2017

Mothers day this year was completely different to any other year in many different ways.

First of all we are now married so we bought son & daughter in law and daughter & son in law cards to our mums.

Secondly my mum actually had mothers day off work! My mum is a carer and normally works every sunday. She recently changed her working hours, so we got to spend time with mum!

Third thing is I was thinking about my miscarriage. In the card shops they had cards that said ‘from the bump’. I was a little sad as I just thought what could have been. On days like mothers day you cant help but think about the sad event.

This year we decided that we would cook a roast dinner for my mum this year as she was off work. While were waiting for dinner to cook, we showed mum our honeymoon photos.
We went to aldi to get all the food. We bought a specially selected roast beef joint, potatoes, cauliflower, broccoli, green beans, specially selected Yorkshire puddings, profiteroles and double cream. All this came to a total of ¬£14.44!!! In any other supermarket this would have probably cost a lot more. We have definitely converted to aldi as the food quality is brilliant and so cheap. We have found that the dates of the products are also a lot longer than we are used to. If you haven’t tried doing a food shop in aldi yet I would say try it and see how much you save!

In the evening we went round Michael’s parents. We spent some time looking at our holiday photos and just spending time together. They are having a lot of work done to their house at the moment, so it was nice to see how far along it is now and what is left to do.

All in all it was nice to spend some quality time with our mums! They do so much for us and it was nice to treat them.

Hope you had a lovely day too

Amazing Honeymoon in Mauritius

Amazing Honeymoon in Mauritius

So I’m back!! We had the most amazing time on honeymoon in Mauritius! The island is beautiful and the people are so lovely, they could never do enough for us. The resort we were staying at was perfect. It was called Riu Le Morne. I thought i would do this blog in the style of a diary of what happened and what we did each day. So here we go…….

26th Feb:
We headed to the airport at 3pm, checked in then went for a meal and drink at wetherspoons in the departure lounge. Then we went and got some magazines or the flight. We had special assistance down to the gate. David who helped us was so lovely. He went on the plane to tell them it was our honeymoon to see if he could get us a bottle of something for free. We then boarded the flight, the cabin crew said to us ‘we will look after you’. Then 5 minutes before take off, a cabin crew member came up to us and said ‘so sorry they have put you in the wrong seats, follow me’. So we got up and we were upgraded to premium for free!! AMAZING!!! It was more spacious, better food, choice of food and it was the perfect way to start our honeymoon.

27th Feb:
We landed at 0910 Mauritius time. We then got our bags and headed to the coach to go to the hotel. It was 1hr 20min transfer to our hotel. We arrived at our hotel and checked in. The receptionist said to us ‘you have been upgraded to the adults only hotel, enjoy your stay’. Another upgrade! Our room was lovely, fresh flowers on the bed everyday, mini bar and gorgeous view. We got some swimwear on and went to the pool. We had a welcome meeting at 3pm, she told us about the island and the trips we could do. We then got showered, dressed and went for some dinner in the main buffet restaurant. Went to bed early as shattered from travelling.

28th Feb:
Our 1st full day, breakfast was tasty. So much to choose from, hot and cold buffet. We booked our boat trip today with our rep. We also booked the Asian restaurant for our anniversary. At dinner in the buffet restaurant, I got given a pink flower from one of the chefs, so sweet of him.

1st March:
We lounged by the pool but stayed in the shade as got burnt yesterday. We got friendly with one of the waiters Jean Noel. He was really nice. The evening we watched our 1st show, it was called jukebox. The entertainment team mimed and acted out music videos. Quite funny!

2nd March:
SHADE AGAIN! Still burnt. Lounged again by the pool. We have a bit of a routine going on by now. At dinner I got made a rose out of a napkin by one of the waiters. The show tonight was african drumming and contemporary dancing. It was incredible! So much energy.

3rd March:
Back in the sun a bit today, still burnt but I kept them bits covered. Dinner in the buffet restaurant and then the show was african dancing.

4th March:
By the pool again today, in and out of the sun. The show tonight was rock nation. It was lots of rock songs acted out and mimed. The entertainment team put so much effort in to it, brilliant!

5th March:
Its our 1st wedding anniversary!!! We took our cards with us to open this morning. It rained a little bit but only for about 10 minutes. We went to the Asian restaurant for dinner, we had sushi and lots of Chinese food. Then we went and watched the show which was a Mauritian dancing and music show.

6th March:
Very hot today!! We were by the pool for a while then went to the beach. The indian ocean is gorgeous! Clear and warm. We went to a cocktail party on the beach in the evening. We had cocktails and admired the sunset while there was music and dancers. The show tonight was a caberet show, lots of different stuff in this, singing, dancing, acting, acrobatics.

7th March:
It rained 1st thing this morning but cleared up quick. Lounged by the pool again. We went to the indian restaurant for dinner, the food was incredible! The show tonight was grease the musical. Great show.

8th March:
We were up early for our boat trip simply sailing. It was a 2 hour transfer to the boat. We sailed on the catamaran to a waterfall which we went right up to on a speedboat. There was also monkeys in the trees, which was a nice surprise. We then got back on the catamaran and sailed to a snorkelling site. We snorkelled then had a BBQ lunch on the boat. It was yummy! We then sailed to ille aux cerfs, this is a paradise island. The ocean forms a lagoon which has created the sandy island. There was a man selling fresh coconuts, I had one! Drank the juice then he cut it open for me so I could eat the flesh. We were here for 1hr 40mins. Then we went back to the boat and sailed back to the pick up point. Travelled back to the hotel. For dinner we went to the buffet restaurant. Rishi, the restaurant manager had arranged a lovely table for a belated anniversary. He had got us a bottle of cape mountain wine and decorated the table beautifully. He had also got us a black forest gateaux cake which said ‘happy wedding anniversary’ with a candle. Then we watched the ‘crazy show’, this was 60 songs in 60 minutes. Very funny!!!

9th March:
Nice day today, we lounged by the pool all day. We went to the French restaurant in the evening. We had a steak each which was gorgeous!

10th March:
Lounged by the pool again. The show tonight was a Hollywood show. It was singing and dancing from musicals and films.

11th March:
Lounged by the pool. We went for a walk along the beach and collected some coral. Some really lovely bits that were washed up on the beach. The show tonight was Michael Jackson. It was INCREDIBLE! Eric who played Michael Jackson, sounded, looked and moved like him! This was my favourite show by far!

12th March:
Its independence day today but also our last day! Lots going on all day. The restaurant was decorated and very colourful. The show was all about the history of Mauritius. It was very interesting. We said our goodbyes to all the staff and headed off to bed.

13th March:
Up very early as we got picked up at 0645 to go to the airport. We checked in and went through to departures. We got some Mauritian rum in duty free and had a subway! We boarded the plane at 1030 and took off at 1115. The flight was quite bumpy but ok. We landed at Gatwick at 1900. My mum picked us up and we headed home. We got home and mum had got us a lovely bunch of flowers to say happy anniversary and welcome home. So nice of her!

The honeymoon was amazing! We were so lucky to get upgrades it made extra special. The resort was wonderful! The staff were incredible! I would go back tomorrow if I could. We have got quite a lot of the staff as facebook friends so we can keep in contact with them all.
